If you’re in the early stages of preparing for the LSAT and have little or no idea about what is in the Law School Admission Test, then purchasing a general purpose LSAT book would be ideal for you.

General LSAT Books cover the basics and introduce you to the main sections of the LSAT (reading comprehension, logical reasoning, and logic games). The following books all take different approaches for strategy and approach to each LSAT section, but will all work to give you a high level overview of the LSAT.

LSAC – the law school admission council – is the official organization that facilitates the LSAT as well as coordinates much of the law school application process. In addition to administering the test, LSAC also publishes past LSATs for the benefit of test takers.

Logic Games Books

The analytical reasoning section, or more commonly known as logic games, is a section of the LSAT that is designed to measure your ability to understand a system of relationships, make inferences, make deductions, and then draw conclusions from the relationships.

Each administration of the LSAT contains one scored four-part logic games section. Each game in the logic games section contains a premise to the game or puzzle, conditions, and finally 4-8 questions.

As logic games are unlike any section test takers will have encountered in prior standardized tests or other graduate school admissions tests, it is imperative that you invest in one of the following highly specialized LSAT logic games books to prepare you for test day.

Logical Reasoning Books

The logical reasoning section is one of the most important sections that LSAT test takers need to master. Of the four scored sections of the LSAT, there will be two logical reasoning sections. Furthermore, the questions within the reading comprehension section are very similar to what you will find from logical reasoning.

Reading Comprehension Books

The reading comprehension section of the LSAT will likely be the most familiar section to most test takers. In terms of structure, the reading comprehension section will be similar reading comprehension sections found in the SAT, GRE, GMAT, and many other standardized tests.
